- ❑ Lessons
- ❑ Any of us responsible for the care of others can be pushed. Sometimes parents and others are blamed for kids who are bouncing off the walls when in fact the kids are bouncing off the walls.
- ❑ Life is in the present. We are part of all of what we have experienced and what we hope and dream about. however, life is NOW and the puppy is a real reminder of that. Eventhough she may have peed three minutes earlier, she may in fact have to go again and it has nothing to do with your hopes to complete that project you are working on. How long can you get away with "just a minute" with a fully hydrated puppy?
- ❑ It is deeply satisfying to be greeted by an excited being when you come home. If only we greet our loved ones in the same way.
- ❑ Patience requires constant development and practice. Puppies guarantee you will have plenty of practice.
- ❑ Puppies make neighbors say hello. This is a great way to meet new people. I don't recommend getting a dog just for this reason since the other factors required for caring for a dog far out number this advantage.
- ❑ Puppies add levity to your life. My puppy dreams about eating while sleeping. It is hilarious!
- ❑ Sometimes, the easiest thing to change is yourself. Obvious, but an underused strategy. Luka liked chewing on our rugs. Instead of making myself crazy chasing her away from the rugs, I removed the rugs. The problem went away. Look for environmental changes you can make in your relationships to remove problems instead of asking over and over for the same thing.
